Resumen: Trabajo, presentado en la Sesión 4 del Segundo Congreso Iberoamericano de Seguridad Informática CIBSI '03 celebrado en México DF. El texto del documento está en inglés. A modified version of the summation generator was proposed by Lee and Moon. This keystream generator has been recently broken by Mex-Perera et. al. It was shown that a correlation attack can be mounted by using a linear model. In this paper a new cryptanalysis based on the search of runs of zeroes is presented. When a run of consecutive zeroes is observed at the output of the generator it is possible to write a set of linear equations, such system hold with probability greater than 1/2. If enough linear equations are collected then an attack can be mounted by solving the system.
