The Ibero-American Congress on Information Security (CIBSI) is an initiative of the Ibero-American Network of Cryptography and Information Security Criptored, a virtual community that brings together experts from 200 universities and over 275 companies in Information Technology, being one of its main objectives to promote and develop the area of Information Security in Ibero America, creating a space for this technology to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and networking for collaborative research.
The first CIBSI was held in February 2002 in Morelia, Mexico, the second in October 2003 in Mexico City, the third edition in November 2005 in Valparaiso, Chile, and the fourth edition in Mar del Plata, Argentina. The conference is proposed to take place, starting in 2003, every two years.
The fifth Ibero-American Congress on Information Security CIBSI'09 will be held from November 16-18, 2009, in the city of Montevideo, Uruguay, and is organized by the Universidad de la República (UDELAR) and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. The Congress CIBSI'09 is a framework of high technological level where experts and technicians from more than a dozen countries present their latest research on issues of such importance as security and network protection, strength of algorithms and protocols, new developments and challenges in access and identification techniques, management and auditing of corporate security, contingency planning, recovery and business continuity, hacking techniques and forensia, PKI, data protection, law, business and e-commerce, to name a few.
